Specialist Gynaecologist and Obstetrician is responsible for providing comprehensive medical care to women, focusing on the reproductive system, pregnancy, and childbirth. This role involves diagnosing and treating various medical conditions, performing surgeries, and providing preventive care and counseling to patients.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Patient Care:
    • Diagnose and treat medical conditions related to the female reproductive system.
    • Provide prenatal, antenatal, and postnatal care to pregnant women.
    • Perform routine check-ups and preventive health screenings.
    • Manage high-risk pregnancies and perform deliveries, including caesarean sections.
    • Offer family planning and contraceptive advice.
  2. Surgical Procedures:
    • Perform gynaecological surgeries such as hysterectomies, laparoscopies, and other minimally invasive procedures.
    • Conduct emergency surgeries as needed.
  3. Consultation and Counseling:
    • Provide counseling on reproductive health, fertility treatments, and menopause management.
    • Educate patients on maintaining reproductive health and managing conditions like PCOS, endometriosis, and fibroids.
  4. Collaboration and Coordination:
    • Work closely with midwives, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care.
    • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and case discussions.
  5. Administrative Duties:
    • Maintain accurate patient records and documentation.
    • Ensure compliance with medical protocols and standards.
    • Participate in departmental audits and quality improvement initiatives.
  6. Research and Education:
    • Stay updated with the latest advancements in obstetrics and gynaecology.
    • Participate in research projects and clinical trials.
    • Provide training and mentorship to junior doctors and medical students.

Qualifications:

The below professional qualifications are required in OB/GYN from below are required and preferred:

  • MS
  • American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS)
  • Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons (RCPS-C)
  • GMC – CCT/CESR/CCST Specialist Register
  • Fachartz Specialist Certificate
  • Swedish Board
  • Fellowship from the Royal Australia and New Zealand Colleges
  • Valid medical license to practice with overall 10 to 15 years experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in obstetrics and gynaecology in a Governmental or Semi-Governmental Hospital or Teaching Hospital is a must
  • Proficiency in performing gynaecological surgeries and managing high-risk pregnancies.
